Program Description
TRIO Upward Bound program helps to generate knowledge and motivation needed to succeed in education beyond high school among low income and potential first generation students and veterans. The program aims to increase academic performance and motivational levels of eligible registrants so that they can finish high school and successfully pursue postsecondary education programs.
General Program Requirements
Students must have completed 8 age group between 13 and 19 (with the exception of children of war veterans), and need educational support to pursue post-secondary education programs. All students are both low-income families or potential first generation students. The program requires that two-thirds of participants in the project must be both low income and potential first-generation students. The remaining third are either low income or potential first generation students. Students are selected based on the recommendations of local teachers, social workers, priests, or other interested parties.
